From Alaska to the world stage, Kristen's journey is defined by ambition, grit, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Kristen Faulkner grew up in Homer, Alaska, in a fishing community where resilience and self-reliance were part of daily life. Those early experiences shaped her love of endurance sports and adventure.
At Harvard University, Kristen competed in varsity rowing while earning a computer science degree. The blend of athletics and analytics became a defining feature of her approach to training and performance. Her curiosity fueled her passion for lifelong learning and always having a beginner's mindset.
Kristen began racing bikes in New York City in 2017 while working in venture capital. She progressed quickly, winning regional races and moving to California to pursue the sport more seriously.
People often ask me what I'm most proud of. They expect me to say winning Olympic gold. But I'm most proud of those years when I was waking up at 5 a.m., training for three hours, and then going to work for 10 hours — when no one believed in my dream except me.
She joined her first professional team in 2020 and soon earned WorldTour podiums. Her aggressive racing style, time-trial power, and tactical acumen made her a standout in stage races and one-day events.
In 2024, Kristen delivered a historic season, winning Olympic gold in the women's road race and team pursuit, and becoming the first American woman to win two gold medals in two different disciplines at the same Olympics. She also became the first American woman in 40 years to win a medal in the Road Race.
